It’s time to get everyone excited as one of the highlights of the horse racing calendar, the Cheltenham Festival, is about to begin.

The jump racing elite will descend on Cheltenham this week with the 2022 edition kicking off on Tuesday and there are plenty of exciting riders to watch.

Fans will be back in droves to attend one of the major sporting events of the year after the spectator lockdown in 2021 due to the Covid pandemic.

Ahead of Cheltenham Festival 2022, Mirror Sport has given you all an overview of everything you need to know, including the start of racing, odds and the TV schedule.

When is it?

The Cheltenham Festival kicks off on Tuesday March 15 with a full schedule until Friday March 18.

There will be seven races each day, 28 in total.

The first race of each day will start at 1:30 p.m. and the last at 5:30 p.m.

Each day will have different themes – with Tuesday being called Champion Day, Wednesday being Ladies Day, Thursday being St Patrick’s Day and Friday the big one with the Gold Cup.

Most of the Cheltenham action will be shown free on ITV while Racing TV will also show coverage from Gloucestershire.

Fans will also be able to follow the action with Mirror Sport’s daily live blog, which will start from Tuesday.
