Permit under examination for the new Publix in Normandy | Jax Daily Record | Jacksonville Daily Record

The city is considering a permit application for the construction of a Publix Super Markets Inc. grocery store at 11341, boul. from Normandy. at an estimated construction cost of $3.5 million.

The 47,240 square foot store is planned on 3.94 acres. Cuhaci Peterson is the architect.

Wagner Property Group purchased 19.4 acres in West Jacksonville on Feb. 23 to develop a mall anchored in Publix northwest of Normandy Boulevard and Chaffee Road.

The center is called Plaza de Normandie. The Franklin Street Real Estate Company represents the commercial space for lease and the two exterior parcels for lease or construction.

The 58,691 square foot retail project includes the Publix grocery store; an adjacent 2,100 square foot retail space that is the size of a Publix Liquors space; and 9,800 square feet of retail stores next door.

There are also the two exterior plots of 2.05 and 1.46 acres.

Boca Raton’s Bohler is the civil engineer.

The rental brochure shows one tenant so far near Publix — Encore Nails.

It also says two restaurants, a cell phone store and a liquor store, adjacent to Publix, are negotiating a letter of intent.

Franklin Street Senior Vice President Carrie Smith, Director Ricky Ostrofsky and Partner Kaelyn Sreenan represent the property.

Ostrofsky said up to 4,200 square feet is available and deals are being negotiated.

Tampa-based Wagner Property Group, through WPG-Normandy LLC, purchased the land for $4.9 million from WT and LL Investments and L. Ward Huntley, as administrator of the Huntley-Jiffy Orange Park Asset Liquidation Trust.

Valley National Bank of Clearwater financed the transaction at $16.8 million.

The land is close to the Cecil Commerce Center and the First Coast Expressway.
