San Diego’s Arlingtonian Bullock estate hits the market

Arlington native Sandra Bullock has funneled much of her wealth into real estate ventures, having bought and sold homes in Los Angeles, New York, Austin, Tybee Island (Ga.) and elsewhere in the states.

And she just put her gorgeous 91-acre resort in San Diego up for sale for $6 million. The list is owned by Alan Long of Avenue8.

The property, which the actress bought for $2.75 million in 2009, includes hundreds of olive, avocado and citrus trees; a magnificent adobe hacienda; an independent guest house; lush floral gardens; and a charming single-storey chicken coop.

The nearly 6,000 square foot home sits atop a hill, offering 360-degree views of the surrounding serene landscape. Built in 1990 and completely renovated, the house has rustic touches but a contemporary aesthetic.

High ceilings, white walls and an abundance of French doors provide excellent air circulation and natural light. The gourmet kitchen features soapstone countertops and an Italian marble backsplash with inlaid mosaic, as well as high-end appliances. The elegant library features one of the house’s nine fireplaces and lighted bookshelves.

Each of the four spacious bedrooms has its own bathroom and private entrance from several flowing verandas of the house. The master suite is truly impressive, with an adobe fireplace, spacious living room, whirlpool tub, steam shower, and private pool access.

The sunny, heated saltwater pool includes an outdoor entertainment area with a gas fire pit, large screen TV and billiard room.

The beautiful grounds include a central iron courtyard with a fountain and a beehive; a certified organic avocado orchard; and many other fruit trees. The three-bedroom, two-bathroom guesthouse includes a fireplace, gazebo, and spa.

The gated complex is protected by security cameras and enhanced by a “smart home” system, while other high-tech features include solar panels and an electric car charging station.

Valley Center is a rural community north of San Diego best known for its Memorial Day Stampede Rodeo and Independence Day Western Days Festival.

Other entertainment options include the Hellhole Canyon Preserve, which offers 22 km of hiking trails, and Harrah’s Resort Southern California Casino.

The bucolic community has been home to celebrities from Hollywood’s Golden Age to the present day, including Fred Astaire, car magnate John Delorean, Mae West and John Wayne.

Named one of Time’s 100 Most Influential People in the World in 2010, Bullock (a Washington-Lee High School graduate) has starred in many hit movies, including comedies, dramas and action thrillers. Dubbed “America’s Sweetheart,” the versatile brunette has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and won the Best Actress Oscar for the football classic “The Blind Side.”

She’s starred in over 50 movies, many of them huge commercial hits, including “Speed,” “Miss Congeniality” and “Ocean’s 8.” In 2010 and 2014, Bullock was the highest paid actress in the world.

Now a producer, her company, Fortis Films, has produced many of her star vehicles, as well as other projects for television and streaming channels.
